Vol. 241 No. 6

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Shannonbridge Power Station.

53.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when it is proposed to commence work on the extension of the ESB power station at Shannonbridge, County Offaly, as announced by the Taoiseach in Tullamore recently; and if such extension is likely to commence this year.

I understand from the ESB that design work on the project commenced some weeks ago. The commissioning date for the extension is 1974-75. Work on the site will not commence this year as the design work will not be sufficiently far advanced.

Is there any possibility of a change of heart?

There is no question of a change of heart in respect of that particular development.

There was before.

Not in regard to that development which is very close to the Deputy's heart.

The Minister for Transport and Power has declared here that this is not going forward on next year's Estimate.

1974-75 and sooner if possible.
