Vol. 241 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Commemorative Stamp.

119.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will reconsider his decision in relation to the provision of a stamp to commemorate the tercentenary of the arrival in Ireland of Blessed Oliver Plunkett.

As previously stated the programme of postage stamp issues for 1969 is already full and it would not be possible to include a stamp to commemorate the event in question.

Would the Minister not reconsider this decision in the light of the recent statement by Cardinal Conway and the considerable importance in the religious field of Blessed Oliver Plunkett?

We are half way through 1969 and the stamp programme has to be prepared a year in advance. It is too late now to do anything.
