Vol. 241 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Educational Premises.

96.

asked the Minister for Education if he will recommend that the appropriate authorities facilitate and authorise the use of primary and secondary school and university premises for recreational and technical purposes by residents in their vicinities who wish to avail of them during holiday periods.

The granting of permission to private individuals or organisations to use the facilities of school premises for recreational or out of school educational purposes is primarily a matter for the authorities of the school or college concerned. In any case where it is likely that no damage would be done to the school premises or to the equipment therein, I would be disposed to encourage the granting of the permission which the Deputy has in mind.
