Vol. 241 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Pensioners.

20.

asked the Minister for Local Government if an in crease has been granted to loca authority pensioners who were on retirement before 1964; and, if so, when he proposes to implement it.

As announced by the Minister for Finance earlier this year the pensions of public service pensioners who retired before the general pay revision of 1st February, 1964, will be brought up to the level of the pensions of their colleagues who retired with the benefit of that pay revision if this would give them bigger pensions than they have already. Any such increase in pension will apply to local authority employees and will be paid with effect from 1st August, 1969. I expect to be in a position very shortly to give the necessary authorisation to local authorities for the payment of the increases.

Does that include those employed by the health authorities?
