asked the Minister for Local Government the amount paid (a) in private and public housing grants and (b) in private and public housing loans in each of the years 1967-68 and 1968-69; and if he will now guarantee no reduction under the same headings in the coming year.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Grants and Loans.
Private housing grants and subsidies for local authority housing paid by the Government and local authorities in 1967-68 and 1968-69 were £12,320,000 and £13,100,000, respectively. Expenditure, financed largely by loans, on local authority housing, houses provided by the National Building Agency and other State agencies and on house purchase and reconstruction loans totalled £20,420,000 and £24,410,000 respectively in the same years. The provision for these items in 1970-71 has not yet been settled but it is unlikely to be less than the sums mentioned.
