Vol. 241 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Grand Canal.

29.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will make a statement concerning the future of the Grand Canal with particular reference to the laying of a trunk sewer and drain on the bed of the canal and the future use of the canal following such work.

Agreement to the temporary closure of the Dublin city section of the Grand Canal for the purpose of laying sewerage drains under the canal and of restoring the canal over the drains is in principle only until it is established that a scheme which will permit the restoration of the canal is feasible. The technical investigations which the Dublin local authority are carrying out have not yet been completed.
