Vol. 241 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Residential Area Piggeries.

19.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has received proposals from Dublin Corporation for the revision of the bye-laws dealing with the existence of piggeries in residential areas; and if he intends to sanction these proposals.

Dublin Corporation have submitted to me for confirmation bye-laws prepared by them to deal with the keeping of pigs. Before I decide whether the bye-laws should be confirmed, I am awaiting the observations of the corporation on objections which have been submitted to me.

Would the Minister state how long this will take? He realises that it is an urgent matter which demands attention. Approximately how long does he think it will take? Will he have it within the next year?

I hope so.
