Vol. 241 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Garda Accommodation.

48.

asked the Minister for Finance when improved accommodation will be provided for the staff of the fingerprint and photographic section of the Garda at Saint John's Road, Dublin, to replace the present cramped and unsatisfactory quarters.

Works are at present in progress to improve the accommodation for the staff of the fingerprint and photographic sections of the Garda Síochána at St. John's Road. The works which are extensive will take at least nine months to complete.

49.

asked the Minister for Finance the present position in relation to the proposed new Garda station in Rathmines, Dublin; and when work on the demolition of the old station and the building of the new one will commence.

Tenders for the demolition of the old Garda station building at Rathmines and the erection of a new station have been received and are at present under examination. A contract will be placed as quickly as possible.

50.

asked the Minister for Finance whether it is proposed to improve the existing Garda station in Terenure, Dublin or replace it with a new one; if so, when; and if he will detail the proposals.

It is intended to replace the existing Garda station in Terenure which is a rented building either by purchasing and adapting alternative premises or by erecting a station on a new site.

At this stage it is not possible to say when the new station will be available. The search for a suitable alternative building or a site is proving to be difficult.
