Vol. 241 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Wexford Afforestation.

91.

asked the Minister for Lands (1) the reason for over 20 years delay in settling with the owners of the Bantry Commons, County Wexford, (2) when planting will commence on the 3,000 acres there and (3) the number of ment it is proposed to employ on the plantation.

The position regarding the title and rights to Bantry Commons was extremely complex and the proceedings in settling with the large number of claimants were necessarily slow and tedious. The various claims have now been resolved with one exception. Legal proceedings have been instituted in that case and pending the outcome of these proceedings it is not possible to state when planting will commence or what employment may be given.
