Vol. 241 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Louth Holding.

92.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that in respect of a smallholding at Slieve, Hackballscross, Dundalk (name supplied) five local farmers are prepared to bid in order to make their holdings economic; but that the Land Commission have acquisition proceedings in train for the holding; and if he will take steps to have this matter remedied.

The determination of lands to be acquired is a matter reserved exclusively to the commissioners. Proceedings were instituted recently for compulsory acquisition of the small holding referred to in the question and an objection lodged last month on behalf of the owner is pending for determination. Until this objection has been disposed of it is not possible to forecast what the outcome of the proceedings may be.
