Vol. 242 No. 4

Written Answers. - School Transport Service.

143.

asked the Minister for Education if he will arrange for a more convenient transport service for the children from Dunboyne-Clonee area who attend Blanchardstown post-primary school, County Dublin, as the present arrangement is not considered satisfactory because of the time loss morning and evening.

I am advised by Córas Iompair Éireann that the morning and afternoon transport services from the Dunboyne-Clonee areas are used by children from these areas attending schools in the city as well as by those going to Blanchardstown. In these circumstances it is not possible to time services precisely to school opening and closing hours and there must be a certain amount of compromise.

The school opening hour in Blanchardstown has recently been adjusted to lessen the inconvenience to children travelling by bus. Children who have to wait for buses in the afternoon have facilities to study in the school during the waiting period.

asked the Minister for Defence the present annual cost of office accommodation rented by semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in (a) Dublin, and (b) in the remainder of the country compiled to the latest convenient date; and if he will give comparable figures for the previous two years.

There are no semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the present annual cost of office accommodation rented by semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department in (a) Dublin, and (b) in the remainder of the country compiled to the latest convenient date; and if he will give comparable figures for the previous two years.

My functions in relation to Radio Telefís Éireann, which is the only such body for which I have a responsibility, do not extend to matters such as that mentioned in the question.
