asked the Minister for Transport and Power (a) the amount paid in grants for the improvement of jetties and other facilities on the River Shannon and (b) the amount subscribed locally in each case to (i) Carrick-on-Shannon, (ii) Rooskey, (iii) Banagher, (iv) Tarmonbarry and (v) any other place on the Shannon.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it in the Official Report.

The following is the information requested.

(a) Grants amounting to £190,601 towards the cost of improvements and other facilities on the Shannon have been paid by Bord Fáilte. The Department of Local Government has approved grants amounting to £13,409 under the Public Amenity Works Scheme in respect of works on the Shannon.
