Vol. 242 No. 13

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 1 and 12. Questions will be taken at 2.30 p.m.

I take it all the questions will be finished today?

We will go on to 5 o'clock but not beyond that time.

The House will be sitting until late in any event?

We are sitting late in order to get through public business.

Which no doubt includes questions? The Minister for Health and some other people will otherwise be in the House for 12 hours.

We are being very generous about questions. Standing Orders provide for one hour.

What about the Estimate for the Department of Justice?

We have to get through other business. When the Deputy has some more experience he will realise how we have to keep things going on a fairly even keel. We just cannot ignore everything else for one item.

Could we not agree to finish questions? I am sure two-and-a-half hours should be sufficient for 136 questions.

We will finish questions provided they are finished by 5 o'clock. If they are not finished then we will have to go on to public business.

The Minister for Justice took over a quarter of an hour for one answer yesterday.

There can be no question about the reply given.
