Vol. 242 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bord na Móna Pension Scheme.

70.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power (a) the date on which Departmental proposals for a pension scheme for Bord na Móna workers was put forward for consideration by Bord na Móna by his Department, (b) the date on which the Departmental proposals were made available to the trade unions and (c) if the Departmental proposals have not yet been disclosed to the trade unions, the likely date of publication.

Bord na Móna were informed on the 10th September of a number of improvements in the regular works employees superannuation scheme, 1963, to which the Minister for Finance and I would be prepared to agree if submitted to us as part of an amending scheme under the statutory procedure.

I am informed that Bord na Móna made proposals to the group of unions on 22nd September, 1969, which incorporate these improvements.

Could the Minister say why the trade unions were not supplied with a copy of the proposals in view of the fact that discussions are taking place between the trade unions and the employers, who are Bord na Móna? The proposals started with the Minister's Department. Would the Minister say if the improvements referred to are the ones which suggest the men should get an increase of about 1/- per week per year?

No. The Deputy is misinformed.

Would the Minister let me have a copy of the proposals?
