Vol. 242 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Meath Estates.

90.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to distribute the remaining portion of the de Velter estate at Stackallan, Slane, County Meath.

It is hoped to allot the residue—15 acres—of this estate next spring.

Can the Minister tell me if these lands are to be distributed as a block or if they are to be further divided?

I should hope that 15 acres would not be divided.

91.

asked the Minister for Lands when it is proposed to divide the Noone estate, Ballinakill, Enfield, County Meath.

A comprehensive scheme of division is being prepared for the Noone estate and other lands acquired by the Land Commission in this locality aggregating in all some 760 acres. It is hoped that plans will be approved so as to permit allocation of a substantial part of the total acreage in the coming spring.

Mr. J. Lenehan

Since the Minister is a Mayoman but not wishing to embarrass him I should like to ask him about a great many Mayo people who were given estates of 22 or 30 acres——

That does not seem to arise. Is the Deputy asking a specific question?

Mr. J. Lenehan

Yes, anything I ask is a specific question. I am asking the Minister if these people who came up from the West will now be given——

I am sorry but I cannot allow the Deputy to proceed on that basis. It is a specific estate that is involved.

I will communicate with the Deputy in the matter.
