Vol. 242 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Estates.

92.

asked the Minister for Lands if there are any proposals for the acquisition of the Delia Lawless estate, Ballyboggan, Athenry and the Patrick Gannon estate, Toorkeel, Athenry, County Galway.

The Land Commission have certain dealings in regard to the 37 acre Lawless estate which for the present at any rate, must be treated as confidential.

Proceedings for the compulsory acquisition of the 15 acre Gannon holding have reached the stage where the question of price remains to be settled.

93.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission intend to divide the Clancy estate, Corranda, Monivea, County Galway.

Composite resale proposals are envisaged for this 230 acre estate and an adjoining holding of 30 acres. I understand that a good deal of the necessary inquiries on the ground have been completed—and I am hopeful that resale plans will be approved so as to permit allocation of the lands next spring.

94.

asked the Minister of Lands the position regarding the Kelly estate, Attymon, Athenry, County Galway.

Proceedings are in progress for the compulsory acquisition of this 30 acre holding but possession has not yet passed to the Land Commission. I understand that there are certain legal difficulties affecting title to the estate which may possibly be resolved next year.
