Vol. 242 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Kerry Lands.

101.

asked the Minister for Lands the reason for the delay in acquiring the 1,000 acres offered for sale at Cosha and Dromeenbrawn, Glencar, County Kerry by the Forestry Branch of his Department, particularly in view of the danger to the continued employment of the workers in the Lickeen area of Glencar; if he will see that the acquisition is speeded up.

The Forestry Division cannot trace any current offer of 1,000 acres in the area mentioned but if the Deputy can be more specific I will have the matter further investigated. I can assure him, however, that there has been no delay in pursuing offers of suitable land in the Glencar area and at present there are several cases, totalling some 450 acres, in the townlands of Cosha South, Keel and Gortdirragh, under active consideration.
