asked the Taoiseach the numbers in use per 1,000 population in 1967 of (a) cars, (b) television sets and (c) telephones.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows: (a) Number of cars in use per 1,000 population in August, 1967—109; (b) Number of television licences current per 1,000 population at 31st March, 1967—107; (c) Number of telephone stations* per 1,000 population at 31st March, 1967—80.

* A station is a telephone instrument, whether on a main or extension circuit, on which public exchange service is available.
