asked the Minister for Labour the days lost from 1958 to 1967 through industrial disputes per 1,000 workers and the number of such days lost in each of the years 1965, 1966 and 1967.

The number of days lost through industrial disputes per 1,000 employees in all sectors of the economy for each of the years mentioned is estimated as follows:—

The total number of man-days lost in each of the years 1965, 1966 and 1967 was 552,351, 783,635 and 182,645 respectively.

Note

In calculating the above figures for man-days lost per 1,000 employees, (1) the figures of total man-days lost each year were taken from the surveys of industrial disputes statistics published by the Central Statistics Office; (2) data regarding numbers of employees in all sectors of the economy including agriculture were taken from the census of population 1961 and 1966 and estimates were made for the non-censal years.
