Vol. 243 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions, Oral Answers. - Subsidisation of Irish Authors.

71.

asked the Minister for Education if Irish authors are subsidised; and, if so, to what degree.

No special payment in the nature of a subsidy is made to Irish authors.

In the case of books in Irish published by my Department normal payments at fixed rates are made to the authors.

In the case of books in Irish published by independent publishers grants are made available by my Department towards the cost of production including payments to authors by the publishers.
