Vol. 244 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - School Transport Service.

120.

asked the Minister for Education if he will consider providing transport for children in the Newcastle-Ballinaclose area, County Meath, who are attending Kingscourt national school, County Cavan.

If the relevant particulars of the children concerned are supplied to me I will arrange to have the question of the provision of a school transport to Kingscourt national school investigated.

121.

asked the Minister for Education why school transport is not provided to Moorstown national school, Ballydavid from Ballybougy, Ballydavid, County Kerry.

I presume that the Deputy is referring to applications which have been received for free transport for children in the Ballinloughig-Ballybrack districts to St. Ere's national school, Moorstown. The number of eligible children in these districts would not be sufficient to warrant the establishment of a separate transport service to St. Ere's national school. I have been advised, however, that the existing transport service to the school now requires an additional trip by the bus and that the eligible children in the Ballinloughig-Ballybrack districts can thereby be accommodated at no extra cost. In the circumstances Córas Iompair Éireann have been instructed to convey the children concerned to St. Ere's national school.

I thank the Minister.
