Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Price Support.

14.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the estimated total cost to the Exchequer in 1970 of creamery milk price support; and the average price per lb. received for butter sold on export markets in 1968.

For the financial year ending 31st March, 1970, it is estimated that the total cost to the Exchequer of creamery milk price support will amount to about £31 million. The estimated cost for the financial year, commencing on 1st April, 1970, will be published shortly in the 1970-71 Estimates for the Public Services.

Bord Bainne received an average net return of 2/- for Irish creamery butter sold on export markets in 1968.
