Vol. 244 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Expenditure on Publications.

45.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht if he will state in respect of (a) himself and (b) his Parliamentary Secretary the amount of money spent in respect of daily and weekly papers and books and magazines for their use in respect of the year ended 31st December, 1969.

Suim £21 13s a chaitheadh as Vóta Roinn na Gaeltachta ar cheannach nuachtán agus foilseachán sa bhliain dar chríoch 31 Nollaig, 1969, don iar-Aire (£10 6s 11d) agus don Rúnaí Parlaiminte (£11 6s 1d).

Would the Parliamentary Secretary tell us if all those publications were actually printed in Irish?

That is a separate question.

We are getting quite a lot of separate questions in this Dáil.

Separate questions have always been a feature of this Dáil.

All I am trying to determine is whether the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Gaeltacht is in fact purchasing or spending State money on the purchase of English literature for his Department or whether they are Irish books.

I would imagine part of the money spent in my office is for Irish periodicals and papers.
