Vol. 244 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Galway Estates.

68.

asked the Minister for Lands what is the position regarding the division of the following estates in the Loughrea area of County Galway: (1) Bourke's Ballyduggan estate, (2) the Dillon estate, Rathfarn, (3) the Contratty estate, Kilmeen, (4) the McLion estate, Ballydavid, (5) the Geoghegan estate, Kilconly and (6) the Daniel's estate, Boston.

Proceedings are in progress for compulsory acquisition of 312 acres of the estate at (1) and for the estate at (2) but it is not possible at this stage to indicate when possession will pass to the Land Commission.

The properties at (3), (4), (5) and (6) have been taken over by the Land Commission. Composite resale proposals will be prepared in due course for these and possibly for the other lands which are at present the subject of compulsory proceedings.
