Vol. 244 No. 8

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Membership of EEC.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if in the event of joining the EEC he can now state whether the Republic will have full rights of membership from the commencement of the period of transition thus ensuring representation on the Community's various committees.

I would expect that with effect from the commencement of the transitional period the acceding countries would be entitled to participate in the proceedings and decisions of the institutions of the Communities but this is a matter that will fall to be dealt with in the pre-accession negotiations.
