Vol. 244 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

37.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the Farranfore group water supply scheme, County Kerry; and whether he will make arrangements so that it can commence shortly having regard to the great potential for early developments in this district.

The design for this scheme has been approved and my Department have no objection to Kerry County Council giving financial assistance to the group to enable the scheme to be linked to the proposed mid-Kerry regional scheme. Up-to-date quotations for the necessary materials are now being sought by the group.

38.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position of the application for a group water scheme from Lower Keadue, Burtonport, County Donegal.

The design for this scheme has recently been approved by Donegal County Council and grants will be allocated to the group very shortly.

39.

asked the Minister for Local Government when he intends to grant approval for the proposed water scheme at Ahascragh, Ballinasloe, County Galway.

Having regard to the necessity to conserve available capital for housing and other essential services, only those sanitary services schemes of high priority can be allowed to proceed at the present time. In the circumstances I cannot at present indicate when approval will issue to the proposed Ahascragh water supply scheme.

Did the Minister notify Deputy Kitt of that also?

Yes, Deputy Kitt is aware of the position.

How about Deputy Hussey?

Deputy Kitt and Deputy Hussey keep in constant touch with me.

40.

asked the Minister for Local Government the present position regarding the proposed new sewerage scheme for Killarney, County Kerry.

Final contract documents for this scheme were recently submitted to my Department, and I expect to give a decision thereon shortly.
