Vol. 244 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mayo Estates.

20.

asked the Minister for Lands when the following estates in County Mayo will be divided by the Land Commission: The Noone estate, Corhalla, the Rushe estate, Corhalla, the O'Gara estate, Mace, the Cunniffe estate, Mace, the Melhotte estate, Mace, the Egan estate, Mace, and the Burke estate, Kilcolman, in the Claremorris area.

Possession of the Noone, Rushe, Burke and Egan estates has passed to the Land Commission. The formulation of resale proposals for these properties has been deferred pending the outcome of proceedings for the acquisition of other lands in the locality. In the event of these other lands being acquired, a composite scheme of division will be prepared.

The Land Commission have reached agreement for the purchase of the Cunniffe estate. It is expected that the sale will be closed shortly. Proceedings for the compulsory acquisition of the O'Gara estate have reached the stage where the question of price remains to be settled.

From the particulars furnished it has not been found possible to identify the Melhotte estate, in the Claremorris area, referred to by the Deputy.
