Vol. 244 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Dental Hospital.

25.

asked the Minister for Education if he will make a statement regarding the renovations to the old dental hospital, Dublin, or the erection of a new dental hospital by the required 1972 date.

I assume that the question concerns the Dublin Dental Hospital.

The Dublin Dental Hospital Board has recently acquired a premises in the vicinity of the existing dental hospital at Lincoln Place. The intention is to provide additional space for clinical teachers and laboratory teaching and to improve facilities generally for staff and students in order to meet as far as possible the essential requirements of the hospital pending the provision of a new building. Some new laboratory facilities have already been installed.

I understand that the hospital board is at present engaged in the preparation of plans for the reconstruction work which will be necessary and that these plans will be submitted to my Department in due course.

An outline schedule of accommodation for a new hospital submitted by the hospital board is under examination at present and consultations regarding that schedule will take place at an early date between the board and my Department.
