Vol. 245 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Revenue.

57.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power what estimate has been made of tourist revenue this year; and whether bookings to date match or show an advance on this estimate.

According to the latest estimate made by Bord Fáilte, income from tourism in 1970 should reach £105 million. Recent surveys of bookings and enquiries support this estimate but I would emphasise that it is difficult to be precise in this field because there are many factors outside our control which can affect the number of visitors and level of visitors' spending.
