Vol. 245 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - National Library Accommodation.

78.

asked the Minister for Education when and where new accommodation will be provided for the National Library to meet the growing demand for its services; and what steps are being taken to expand the staff of the Library.

I have appointed Dr. Kenneth Humphreys, a librarian of international standing who has for many years been secretary of the standing conference of national and university libraries in Britain to carry out a survey of the functions and requirements, including staffing and accommodation, of the National Library and to report to me on the steps necessary to enable it to fulfil its functions. When I receive Dr. Humphreys' report matters such as those referred to in the Deputy's question will be considered.
