asked the Taoiseach if he will state for the latest available date (a) the total amount borrowed by all State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department and (b) the cost of servicing this borrowing.

No amount was borrowed by any such body during the period concerned.

61.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state for the latest available date (a) the total amount borrowed under the aegis of his Department and (b) the cost of servicing this borrowing.

As stated in replies to previous similar questions the bodies with which my Department are concerned receive support in the form of grant, and, except by way of temporary bank overdraft, the question of borrowing does not arise.

62.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he will state for the latest available date (a) the total amount borrowed by all State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department and (b) the cost of servicing this borrowing.

Examination of the latest available annual accounts of the bodies under the aegis of my Department show that the sum total of borrowing outstanding at the end of the accounting year amounted to £16,037,534, and that the aggregate amount paid in interest during the year was £1,362,127.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state for the latest available date (a) the total amount borrowed by all State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department and (b) the cost of servicing this borrowing.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state for the latest available date (a) the total amount borrowed by all State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department and (b) the cost of servicing this borrowing.

The total amount borrowed by State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of my Department at the latest available date was £12,859,571 of which £10,153,749 represents repayable advances from the Exchequer. The cost of servicing this borrowing in the latest year was £880,405.

asked the Minister for the Gaeltacht if he will state for the latest available date (a) the total amount borrowed by all State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department and (b) the cost of servicing this borrowing.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state for the latest available date (a) the total amount borrowed by all State and semi-State bodies under the aegis of his Department and (b) the cost of servicing this borrowing.

Radio Telefís Éireann is the only such body for which I have a responsibility.

The particulars requested by the Deputy, as at the 31st March, 1969, are as follows:

(a) Repayable advances totalling £1,851,000 have been made from the Exchequer under Section 23 of the Broadcasting Authority Act, 1960. Property valued at £249,000 was also transferred to the Authority under Section 32 of the same Act. The bank overdraft was £97,095, making the total debt £2,197,095.

(b) £115,712 in 1968-69.
