Vol. 246 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ice Cream Manufacture.

13.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries if he is satisfied with the amount of milk being used in the manufacture of ice cream.

As I indicated in a reply to a question on 8th April, I am at present considering the possibility of raising the minimum milk-fat content of ice cream.

Would the Minister say what amount of synthetic material is used in the manufacture of ice cream to the exclusion of milk?

I am afraid I have not that information. There have been changes recently and it is because of that I have become concerned and am considering whether a higher requirement should be laid down.

Ice cream is not a very good description.

This is one of the things I am considering.
