asked the Taoiseach the number of persons, male and female, in gainful employment in Cork city for each year from 1964 to the latest year available; and the number of persons, male and female, unemployed in Cork city for each year from 1964 to the latest date available.

The latest comprehensive information on employment in Cork city is that obtained in the 1966 Census of Population, when the number of gainfully occupied persons living in the Cork County Borough was 30,440 males and 14,313 females. With your permission, Sir, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing for the end of April in each of the years 1964 to 1970 the number of persons on the live register residing in the Cork County Borough.
