Vol. 246 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bank Dispute.

28.

andMr. T. O'Donnell asked the Minister for Labour what steps the Government have taken to resolve the bank dispute.

The director of the conciliation service of the Labour Court, who is chairman of the Irish Banks' Joint Industrial Council, had been in frequent contact with the parties to this dispute and negotiations under his chairmanship opened between the parties on the 5th May. On the 11th May the representatives of the workers withdrew from the negotiations.

I would urge an early resumption of negotiations.
