Vol. 246 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Review of Public Records.

33.

asked the Minister for Finance if any investigations have been made into the review system for public records in operation in Northern Ireland, referred to in a reply of 29th April, 1970; and when a decision for or against the adoption of such a system here can be expected.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is yes.

A decision on the review system for our public records will be made as soon as possible.

How soon will that be?

At this stage I could not say except that it will be as soon as possible.

It is almost 50 years since they introduced this system in Northern Ireland and we have not done it yet. Surely it is long overdue?

They have a lot of systems up there that we do not want.

I am calling Question No. 34.
