Vol. 247 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kennedy Memorial Hall.

28.

asked the Minister for Finance the present position regarding the building of the proposed President Kennedy Hall at Haddington Road, Dublin; and if the dwellings on the site leased by Dublin Corporation will be within the building area of the new hall.

The architectural plans and ancillary documents have been completed and a revised estimate of cost will now be prepared. Dwellings on the site which have been leased to Dublin Corporation are outside that part of the site on which the hall would be constructed. Four of the houses on Northumberland Road which have been let to Dublin Corporation would require to be demolished eventually to provide amenity grounds for the hall.

Can the Minister say if a definite decision has been taken to adhere to this site and if it is proposed, in view of the fact that an all-party committee initially considered this matter, to reconvene this committee?

A definite decision to that effect has not been taken. When the revised estimate of the cost is available, consideration will then be given to the reconvening of the all-party committee.
