asked the Minister for Justice what special allowances for expenses are given to Gardaí working on the Juvenile Liaison scheme.

72.

asked the Minister for Justice what courses gardaí working on the juvenile liaison scheme have been released to attend since the inception of the scheme.

With your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, I propose to take Questions Nos. 71 and 72 together.

A special allowance for expenses of 10s a week is paid to whole-time members of the juvenile liaison unit. This is additional to the plain-clothes allowance for which members on this duty would usually qualify.

The training provided for members of the unit consists of a two-week training course in Dublin, which was specially devised for the work.
