Vol. 247 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Architects' Fees.

16.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power the present level of fees for services by consultant architects employed on public construction work under the aegis of his Department.

My Department are responsible for building construction at the State airports. For this work my Department have employed their own architectural staff. I have now assigned responsibility for this work to Aer Rianta Teo.; and the architectural staff engaged on it are seconded to the company. Due to pressure of work in the architectural section, a firm of outside architects were engaged in 1969 for minor works at Shannon Airport; the firm were appointed on the basis of the fees prescribed by the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland.
