Vol. 247 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Inland Fisheries Commission.

47.

asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the terms of reference of the new Inland Fisheries Commission.

The terms of reference of this commission are:—

"To examine all aspects of inland fisheries (i.e. those for salmon, trout, eel and coarse fish) including their tenure, development, management, administration, optimum utilisation and anti-pollution measures and to made recommendations."

May I ask the Minister if the terms of reference explicitly include the possibility of the commission investigating and reporting on the purchase or take-over by the State of many of the inland fisheries in the national interest?

The reply specifies very clearly the terms of reference.
