Vol. 247 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Electrification.

6.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will give details of the areas in County Wexford which will be supplied with electricity supply under the rural electricity scheme.

I am informed by the ESB that the rural areas in County Wexford still to be supplied under the rural electrification post-development scheme are included in two groups in which the programme is proceeding independently.

In the Enniscorthy group, the Monagear and Piercetown areas have already been recanvassed and construction work is under way. It is hoped to finish in these areas within the next four months and work will then commence in the Camolin and Kilmore areas where the recanvass will have been completed in the meantime. It is hoped to finish work in the Camolin and Kilmore areas within approximately two years. The remaining areas in the group will then be taken in the following order: Kilmuckridge, Killaveney, Blackwater, Killurin, Monamolin, Inch, Kilmyshall, Tomacork, Kildavin, Hollyfort, Killcotty, Johnstown, Oylgate and Gorey Hill.

In the Waterford group the Foulksmills area of County Wexford is at present being recanvassed and it is hoped that work will commence in the area towards the end of the year. The remaining areas of Newbawn, Adamstown and Ballywilliam will then be taken in that order.
