Vol. 247 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Arms Consignment.

41.

asked the Minister for Justice whether a consignment of firearms was stolen from the Dublin to Cork train recently; and if he will make a statement on the matter.

I am informed by the Garda Síochána that no report of such a larceny was made to them and that they have no reason to think that any such larceny took place. It was, however, reported to the gardaí that a small quantity of sporting ammunition was stolen somewhere between England and Cork.

Would the Minister state whether he is satisfied that his predecessor maintained adequate vigilance in relation to this type of transaction and adequately informed the Taoiseach regarding such transaction?

That is a separate question. The question relates to firearms being stolen from the Dublin to Cork train.
