Vol. 247 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Raheny (Dublin) Road.

91.

asked the Minister for Local Government when the main road going through Raheny, Dublin, will be completed; and the reasons for the delay to date.

I have nothing to add to the reply to the Deputy's question of 9th December, 1969 on the same subject.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, this is a main road serving 80,000 or 90,000 people and it has been practically closed for more than 12 months. Surely, as Minister for Local Government, he has some say in the matter?

It is a matter for Dublin Corporation.

Surely the Minister is aware that his predecessor abolished Dublin Corporation?

I am not aware that the corporation was abolished. Of course, the scheme may be held up a little because of the present cement strike.

Is the Minister not aware that the amount of cement used on the road is nil because it is a tarmacadam road and the cement work has already been done on it?

As I have said, it is a matter for Dublin Corporation.

The Minister hails from Galway and is not aware that Dublin Corporation was abolished.

There is a dictator there.

I am far from being a dictator and the Deputy should not try to put that label on me.

I said there is a dictator in the corporation.

The Minister is showing his teeth.
