asked the Minister for Agriculture and Fisheries the present indications as to changes in cereal acreages on the basis of available figures for seed sales.

The present indications based on sales of seed are that as compared with 1969 the wheat acreage will show an increase of about 27,000 acres, or 13 per cent; the barley acreage an increase of about 64,000 acres or 13 per cent and the oats acreage a decline of about 14,000 acres or 7 per cent.

The overall increase in the acreage under cereals is estimated at about 77,0000 acres or 9 per cent as compared with 1969.
