Vol. 247 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Road.

107.

asked the Minister for Local Government what representations he received from Kerry County Council regarding the Tralee-Dingle road in connection with making this road a secondary road.

In a letter dated 11th December, 1969, the Kerry county engineer informed the Department that the county council had recently passed a resolution that the Minister for Local Government be requested to classify the road from Dingle to Tralee and the road from Dingle to Castlemaine as national secondary roads. Following a review of the national roads network the council were informed by letter dated 20th February, 1970, that the Minister was unable to accede to their request in regard to the Tralee-Dingle road. I was not aware of this correspondence and I regret that in my reply to the Deputy's question of 4th June it was stated that no representations had been received in relation to this route. Yesterday a letter dated 16th June was received from the county council requesting me to receive a deputation on this matter. This request is under consideration.
