Vol. 247 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Athlone Factory Premises.

29.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he has any statement to make in relation to the empty factory premises at Monksland, Athlone, County Roscommon, formerly occupied by a firm (name supplied).

The factory at Monksland, Athlone, has been purchased by another company, who are transferring their manufacturing operations to it. The factory premises are being renovated and the new company expect to commence production later in the year.

Will the Minister indicate if a grant was paid to the previous company and, if so, how much?

That is a separate question.

In any event, the disclosure of the relevant amount of grant would not arise. However, as far as I am aware, grants were given to the previous company.

Were they repaid?

That is a separate question.

Is the Deputy objecting to the reopening of this factory?

Not at all. I just wanted to know what happened to the money paid to the first company.

That matter does not arise on this question.
