asked the Minister for Transport and Power when an application by Youghal Harbour Commissioners, County Cork, for a State grant to resurface the quay was lodged in his Department; the amount of the grant which he will make available; and when the grant will be paid.

The application in question was received in my Department on 11th June, 1970. The Harbour Commissioners were informed on 17th June that the resurfacing work proposed came under the heading of normal harbour maintenance which it is their own responsibility to finance; that in such circumstances their application could not be acceded to but that immediate consideration would be given to any request for my consent to the necessary borrowing. Such a request has now been received and is being examined.
