Vol. 248 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly Estate.

38.

asked the Minister for Lands when the Land Commission will be in a position to divide up the remaining lands on the Whigsboro estate, Birr, County Offaly; and if he will confirm that the remaining lands will be divided among the local small holders.

Some 64 acres of the 401 acre estate have already been allotted and it is expected that a further 22 acres will be allocated in the next week or so. It is not possible, just now, to indicate when allotment of the balance will take place. The selection of allottees for land is a matter reserved to the commissioners. I am confident that the claims of all applicants will be thoroughly assessed before the lands are finally allocated.
