Vol. 248 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Surtax Payers.

18.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the current number of surtax payers; and the number with incomes exceeding £5,000, £10,000 and £15,000.

The latest available information is contained in Table 76 of the Annual Report of the Revenue Commissioners for the year ended 31st March, 1969. This shows that, for the year of assessment 1968-69, there was a total of 3,443 surtax payers, of whom 2,735 had total income in excess of £5,000 and 547 had total income in excess of £10,000.

Information is not available as respects the number of surtax payers with total income exceeding £15,000: the statistics are not compiled in such a manner as would enable the information to be furnished.
