Vol. 249 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Harbour Facilities.

30.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will sanction the leasing of Wexford Harbour facilities to a local syndicate who would be prepared in view of its viability to invest the necessary funds for development.

Section 157 of the Harbours Act, 1946, provides that a harbour authority may lease any of their lands or premises for any period not exceeding 200 years but that no such lease shall be made for a period exceeding ten years without my consent.

No application has been made by the Wexford Harbour Commissioners for my consent to the leasing of facilities at Wexford Harbour. If such an application is made it will be considered on its merits.

Over what period?

On its merits.

But over what period will it be considered?

Let us have the application first.

The Minister would give a quick decision?

Let us have the application first. They have not applied yet.
