In view of the inadequacy of private subscriptions in Ireland to the RNLI and in order to sustain the valuable services rendered by the institution, I propose to include in the Estimate for my Department for 1971/72 provision for an annual grant of £10,000 towards the institution. I do not propose to attach any special conditions to this grant.
